FSSAI licence in Ahmedabad.
The fees and the tiers are national. What changes in Ahmedabad is who administers your file, which trade routes you touch, and the mistakes that are common in the businesses around you.
Gujarat administers the licence. FSSAI writes the rules.
Licensing is a state subject under the Act. In Gujarat it runs through the Commissioner of Food Safety — in practice, the Food and Drug Control Administration (FDCA), Gujarat — with Registration granted by the Designated Officer for your area and State Licences by the state licensing authority. A Central Licence is issued by FSSAI’s regional office.
Confirm the office that covers your ward with the Designated Officer before filing — jurisdictions inside a city change.
Ahmedabad in practice
Gujarat’s file mix is manufacturing-heavy: dairy, snacks, edible oil and spices, most of it packaged and therefore label-driven. For a packaged-food manufacturer the licence is rarely the risk — the label is, because every SKU carries mandatory elements, a nutrition panel that has to reconcile, and claims that have to be supportable.
- Every premises needs its own licence — a second outlet is a second file, not an amendment
- Consignments moving through Mundra and Kandla ports (via the Gujarat coast) — import and export files carry their own periods and documents
- Operating in two or more states adds a head-office Central Licence on top of the state licences
Three things that decide how this one goes.

For a Gujarat manufacturer the expensive mistake is almost never the licence — it is the artwork. Fifteen mandatory elements, a nutrition panel whose arithmetic has to reconcile, allergen declarations, and front-of-pack claims that must be supportable. A reprint costs more than the licence ever did.
- Check the label before the print run — a missing allergen line cannot be fixed with a sticker
- Edible oil and dairy carry product standards on top of the labelling rules
- Repacking someone else’s product is its own kind of business

FSSAI licensing in Ahmedabad — quick answers
Which authority grants an FSSAI licence in Ahmedabad?
Gujarat’s FDCA administers licensing under the Commissioner of Food Safety; Registration is granted by the Designated Officer for your area.
We manufacture for other brands. Whose licence goes on the pack?
The manufacturer’s licence number and address must appear. Where the brand owner is a different entity, the pack has to show that relationship correctly.
How long does an FSSAI licence take in Ahmedabad?
Registration is often granted within a few working days. A State or Central Licence is scrutinised and may be inspected, so plan for a few weeks — and longer if the officer raises a query. Most delays we see are document problems that could have been fixed before filing.
Is the government fee different from state to state?
No. ₹100 a year for Registration, ₹5,000 for a State Licence and ₹7,500 for a Central Licence are national. What varies is which office handles your file and how quickly it moves.
