The government fee, by tier

FSSAI’s kind-of-business eligibility table was reissued on 1 April 2026. Fees are now flat per tier rather than banded by production capacity.

Fees you’ll still see quoted — that no longer exist

Pages ranking for “FSSAI fees” still publish figures from the old schedule. None of these appears in the current table:

One licence, several activities

A business that manufactures, stores and distributes at one premises takes out one licence under the heaviest activity. The 2026 table prices each kind of business separately and does not say what happens to the fee when one licence covers several. Where that matters, we confirm the figure with the licensing authority before quoting it.

Is the fee still paid for several years at once?

Under the old rules you could take a licence for up to five years and pay upfront. With perpetual validity the fee is annual, and an unpaid annual fee puts the licence under deemed suspension — so the date matters more than the amount.

Other government charges

  • Import clearance — a separate, non-refundable fee with each clearance application (Import Regulations, reg. 5(1)).
  • Lab testing — billed by the laboratory, not FSSAI.
  • Legal Metrology packer registration — a separate state registration within 90 days of starting to pre-pack.

FAQ

Quick answers

What is the FSSAI registration fee in 2026?

₹100 a year for businesses up to ₹1.5 crore turnover. Street vendors pay nothing.

What is the FSSAI State licence fee in 2026?

₹5,000 a year, flat, for turnover between ₹1.5 crore and ₹50 crore.

What is the FSSAI Central licence fee in 2026?

₹7,500 a year, flat. Railway-station food businesses and catering at Central Government establishments pay ₹2,000.

What is the FSSAI licence fee for 5 years?

Is the FSSAI fee different in Delhi, Maharashtra, UP or Rajasthan?

No. The government fee is set nationally by FSSAI’s kind-of-business table — the same ₹100, ₹5,000 or ₹7,500 in every state.

What is the FSSAI licence fee for a cloud kitchen or small business?

It follows turnover: ₹100 a year up to ₹1.5 crore, ₹5,000 up to ₹50 crore, ₹7,500 above. A caterer can’t use the ₹100 Registration — its smallest option is the ₹5,000 State Licence.

How much does a consultant charge for an FSSAI licence?

It varies by firm. Ours is published: ₹4,500 for a Registration, ₹12,500 for a State Licence and ₹19,500 for a Central Licence, one-time plus GST, with the government fee paid by you directly.
