Product, label & claims

Ayurveda Aahara.

Ayurveda Aahara products are foods made to recipes from the classical texts. The category decides whether you need prior approval, and the label carries more than an ordinary food’s.

The outcome

The right Ayurveda Aahara category — so you take the short route where the law allows one.

What’s at stakeRegulation 8 forbids disease claims whatever the classical text says — a claim is a misleading-advertisement exposure (s.53).

Where the rule comes from

FSS (Ayurveda Aahara) Regulations 2022

FSSAI order of 25.07.2025 — category A list

We quote the regulation behind every requirement. Where FSSAI hasn’t specified something, we tell you it’s our reading, not the law.

Who it’s for

You need this if…

  • Traditional recipes — pana, lehya, churna-style foods
  • Brands moving an Ayurvedic product into the food route
Scope

Exactly what you’re paying for.

Included

  • Category A, B, B1 or B2 decision
  • Check against FSSAI’s published category A list
  • Composition check — no added vitamins, minerals or amino acids
  • Label review for the six extra items

Not included

  • Safety studies for category B products

Anything outside scope is quoted in writing before we do it.

How it works

Who does what, in order.

Most of the work is ours. Where something needs you, it says so.

After it’s done

  • Licence under the right product category
  1. You
    Share recipe and source text

Which classical text the recipe comes from.

  2. We
    Place the category

    A, B, B1 or B2 — the route follows.

  3. We
    Label

AYURVEDA AAHARA words and logo, dietary-use statements, no disease claim.

What goes wrong

The mistakes we see most.

Assuming off-list means category B

A Schedule A recipe off the list can seek inclusion — no safety dossier.

Adding a vitamin premix

Lawful in a supplement; not here.

FAQ

Common questions

If my product isn’t on the list, is it category B?

Not necessarily. A recipe from a Schedule A text can be category A without being on the list — the route is a request for inclusion, not a safety dossier.

Is Ayurveda Aahara a drug?

No. It’s a food under FSSAI’s Ayurveda Aahara Regulations 2022 — which is why disease claims are not allowed.
